Licenced Cafe
The Apple Tree Cafe is an ideal place to eat out on the Isle of Wight.
The café sits within the orchard and gardens at Afton Park, a beautiful
and relaxing environment, a world away from the hustle and rush of modern
living.
Since opening in 1999 the cafe has built an enviable reputation for quality
food and service. As well as providing a wholesome and interesting menu
to suit most tastes including vegetarian and vegan, the cafe also specialises
in wheat and gluten free foods for
the growing number of people who suffer allergies, although many of
our wheat & gluten free recepies are popular with our customers even
if they don't have a wheat or gluten allergy. View
a typical menu for a taste of what we do.
The
cafe is linked to the working garden and orchard to provide fruit, herbs
and vegetables to support the kitchen as much as possible during the season.
This means that vegetables harvested in the morning can be served at lunch-time.
As well as our own produce we also source locally produced ingredients
wherever possible - Locally caught fish and crab, sausages and meats from
Freshwater's award winning butcher and even flour which is Isle of Wight
grown and ground in the traditional way at Calbourne Water Mill.
We also serve Fairly Traded Coffee to directly support growers in other
countries.
As well as Afton Park's award winning apple juice there is also a range
of Apple Tree Cafe pickles, chutneys, relishes, jams & jellies from
surplus fruit and vegetables.
Sept 9th 2003 - in its 'Gastronomic England' guide
for the Isle of Wight the Daily Express selects the Apple Tree Cafe as
one of the top 5 places to eat.
