Isle of Wight Healthy Eating Award Winners
The awards celebrate innovation in healthy eating and are designed to "promote and enable healthy eating for all households on the Isle of Wight and support Island producers and food retailers to improve access to affordable, fresh and local foods". Members of the public nominate a cafe or restaurant giving reasons why it should receive an award for healthy eating. A key-note speech was given by Dr Martin Caraher, from City University, who is one of the UKs leading food and health academics. Chefs Wendy Newnam and Phil Blair (pictured above) were both ' thrilled' at winning the award. "We get lots of positive feedback from our customers but it is always good to get recognition from an official body for all the hard work." said Wendy.
